I visited to the Penrose Park Velodrome today. With my family in there to cheer me on / humor me, I got to try out my freshly built Romani track conversion. This was also my first ride ever in Penrose Park. Four months earlier I was sitting idle with a broken arm (obtained via bicycle), and I dreamed of getting back on a bike. The best way to get over a nasty bike crash? Build a new bike, one with speed in mind.

As far as speed goes there is some work to be done. I couldn't get under a thirty second lap. The surface was much rougher than I thought it would be. This must be what square wheels would feel like. It was everything I hoped it would be.
I'm the spec vibrating along in the lower right hand corner. |
